During the winter, it’s important to take care of your skin. The majority of people neglect their beauty routines during the colder months, but it’s worth the time and energy it takes to protect yourself from the cold, dry air. Trust me—you won’t regret listening to a few tips!

1. Facial Rejuvenation

You might be scratching your head, wondering what facial rejuvenation is. It’s exactly what it sounds like: anything that rejuvenates the face. Different facial rejuvenation techniques reduce wrinkles, fine lines, droopy cheeks, and all sorts of other age-related problems.

Some people swear by their own particular rituals, using anti-aging serums and creams whenever they can. Others prefer to use Botox, an injectable that targets deep lines and wrinkles and keeps the skin looking smooth and refreshed. Nothing, though, beats a facelift when it comes to keeping your looks youthful.

We all have different ways of looking our best. Here are some of my favorites for the winter!

2. The Right Creams and Moisturizers for Winter

One of the best ways to keep your skin looking incredible during the colder months is by applying special creams and moisturizers. To best protect your skin, use thicker, creamier bases instead of thinner ones.

Consider, too, using hydrators like shea and cocoa oils. They’re natural emollients, which means that they help your skin stay moisturized throughout the season. You can also buy rosewater from your local drugstore and use it as an alternative to normal toners.

3. How Much Exfoliation is Too Much?

Depending on your skin’s sensitivity, you should be exfoliating between 1 and 3 times per week. Exfoliation gets rid of dead skin cells and clears up clogged pores.

Too much exfoliation, however, can do more harm than good. It can actually exacerbate dryness, especially when the air is cold. The last thing you want is a flaky face!

For this reason, it’s best to keep track of your exfoliation routine as best as you can. More than 3 exfoliation sessions per week can leave your skin red and irritated!

4. Sunscreen is Just for Summer… Right?

Wrong! Sunscreen is a must year-round. Although winter can be snowy, the sun’s UV rays easily penetrate clouds. This means that your skin can actually burn. You should always wear sunscreen whenever you go outside for prolonged periods of time!

A good SPF to wear for everyday use is 30. However, if you’re expecting to be outside for a long time, consider picking up some SPF 50.

5. Look for Collagen on the Labels

Most people aren’t aware of what to look for when they choose skincare products. For the uninitiated, collagen should be your primary ingredient of interest.

Collagen is a protein—in fact, it’s the most plentiful protein in the human body. It makes up the structure of your connective tissues and helps your skin maintain its elasticity, firmness, and general strength. Collagen is vital for healthy skin and is used in countless beauty products, like anti-aging creams and supplements.

Although collagen is more commonly associated with skincare, it is also fantastic for your hair!

6. The Best Vitamins for Skincare

I take vitamins every single day. I even have a labeled weekly container so that I know what vitamins to take on which day!

There are so many vitamins that you should be taking, but here are just a few key ones:

Vitamins D, C, E, and K are all great vitamins to include in your diet. They will keep your skin’s health in mind, as they each play a vital role in maintaining and repairing tissue.

  • Vitamin D boosts the skin’s protective barrier and stimulates the cell regeneration process.
  • Vitamin C fights signs of aging, UV damage, and even acne.
  • Vitamin E staves off swelling and puffiness.
  • Vitamin K protects and encourages collagen production in the body.

These are just a handful of my best tricks to maintain your winter skincare. I hope you’ve learned something useful from it and are able to succeed in your beauty journey!
