Mayhem, Amon Amarth and Gwar are great, each in their own way. I find the inclusion of Amon Amarth in your list puzzling since there is such a large viking metal genre…

dir en grey? more like dur im gay. i lost a friend because of her obsession with that band; she started to attempt to dress like them and act like them, even referring to me as the “inferior one” and the “pathetic human in her way”, like she wasn't human herself :U

and dear god i hope that isn't manson.
oh well, it's fine, i was a dork back then too. :3

I completely agree. Considering every metal band I've yet encountered, Amon Amarth wouldn't even make it into my Weirdness Top 50. And that's just metal bands. I'm more amazed by the fact that you can write entire songs about… um, umbrellas or something.
So how about the “filk” genre? Or chiptune/SID music? Or… well, I could continue for hours. There's much more weirdness out there, and lots of it is really enjoyable – broaden your horizon, people
