    The War Of The Worlds should also be considered noteworthy, especially since many listeners believed it. Although it wasn't intended as a hoax, Orson Welles did plan it out so that people who didn't listen to the entire show might miss the three statements that revealed that it was a fictional account. However, some that heard the entire broadcast also believed that we were being invaded. As to how the audience reaction actually was, it's hard to say, but I think it can be said that in the age of the internet and 24/7 news channels, something like this could never happen again.
