With all these strange oddities happening, whether they are by the hands of us and the chemicals we use to make our food or by the hands of just Mother Nature herself we can only guess at what is causing these things to happen in every day life. Maybe it is a wake up call and maybe it is just something we all need to be in awe of.

Why do we have to kill them? Just because they are big?

    • CPT Ahab

      YES, dear God yes.

    • annonymous

yeah! In over half the pictures they are dead. So sad.

      • Mike

I get your point but 5 out of 18 does not equal 1/2.

        • Tony

Mike actually only 12 are big…(which is what Monica was referring to). So technically its 5 out of 12 smart ass

          • billy

and 5/12 still isnt 1/2, but nice try

            • Sarah

Well, sorry to tell u but the giant squid was dead or quickly died and they took it back somewhere to research it (I want to say UCLA but I could be wrong, you can find all the videos of them defrosting it and sticking cameras inside of it online, it is quite interesting and disgusting at the same time), so the initial statement of over half is an overstatement, but half is a correct summation, so i believe that we can let it rest now. Unless the stick bug was also dead, then it was correct to be outraged at over half of the oversized creatures appearing dead. JUUUUST saying…LOL

“Is animal oddities Mother Nature’s way of telling us to let things happen naturally and stop giving animals hormones and to stop using pesticides…”

WHAT!? you show some hoaxes, some photoshops and some perfectly natural specimens and blame them on hormones and pesticides? How?

    • rale

Did you look at links below each photo?

      • duh

yes… a lot of the links don’t even relate to the picture, or have any details about the picture.

for example… the link under the “giant killer sea worm” links to an article about the evolution of snake’s jaw structures, and makes no reference to a giant sea worm.

Also, the link under the “cyclops cat” just links to the exact same picture at a website called http://www.funlol.com... hardly a reference.

It’s plainly obvious that while some of these are real, the majority of them are either photoshops or hoaxes. I mean look at the 4 legged duck… that person is obviously holding two ducklings, hiding one’s head behind the other’s body.

Hey Euphoria (author of this post) — did you even read the link under the shark picture? The link says the shark was 9 meters, not 13 feet… Furthermore, you mention that this was the “largest species of shark” which is not even close to true. The largest species of shark is the Whale Shark. The article you linked to mentions that this Basking Shark was the largest shark caught in Japanese waters.

    • euphoria

LOL! I am not author, I just published this post. I probably made a mistake while linking… Sorry for that ;)

    • Brian

Apparently YOU did not read it. The comment does not say largest species it says largest caught of it’s species (not the exact wording). In other words the largest specimen of that species of shark. If you are going to correct people you better make sure you know what you are talking about first or you end up looking dumb or illiterate.

Why, oh why are a lot of these animals dead? Especially that hog. Do we always have to kill, kill, kill?

    • Merblaines

Because Whippet, we’re destructive predators that enjoy killing things including ourselves. We suck, but maybe one day with genetic engineering we can produce an ethically sound and truly intelligent species…from dung grows the rose.

most of these pictures are gross misrepresentations and photoshopped and most of the captions are wrong.

    examples:

-the shark is a great white. great whites are nowhere near the largest shark species and 13 feet is not the largest specimen found.
-the hog, the alligator, and the cow are normal sized, just photoshopped and/or a trick of the camera
-the albino alligators are raised in captivity because they will not survive without their natural camouflage, so they are not very difficult to find

it’s fine to post these pictures for fun, but don’t post them as facts/truths.

    • Chandler

The shark is a tiger not a great white or the basking in the link. You can tell by the blunt nose and relatively short, curved to the side teeth. Great whites have a pointier snout and longer symmetrical triangular teeth.

That “killer sea worm” is not poisonous at all nor does that link reference it being so. Its called a pile worm, and is commonly used as fish bait. They do bite however with pincer style teeth.

Nice list, but the HOG listed second was actually a persons pet. The hog got out one night and that stupid ass redneck kid shot it half a dozen times with a 50cal hand gun. He was a real f***ing idiot when he was interviewed and claimed that he didn’t know it was someone’s pet. Then the owners of the Hog were on the news crying because their pet was killed by the neighbor’s kid. I hate rednecks.

While I agree that some of these are fake, I read also read an article about the giant hog that discounted claims of Photoshopping. The shark is obviously not a great white, and there is a real cow that is horse-sized, though I don’t know if the cow in this picture is the same one. I also thought while looking at these, “Why did they have to kill them?” Then I realized that the reason they were even discovered is due to the fact that they were caught by fishermen and died from being out of water.

most of the giants are quite normal… the basking sharks are not exactly the biggest sharks but that one’s a big one!! the colossal squid’s the biggest ever caught but scientists are searching for bigger ones still… but some of the mutated animals… they’re a result of the use of radiation and chemical products by human beings… for example i’ve a few types of two-headed fishes like this one http://www.sunshinecoastdaily.com.au/story/2009/01/12/two-headed-fish-found-noosa-boreen-point/ and i’ve seen a real two-headed cow, i tell you, the feeling’s scary… totally different from how you feel here!! anyway, interesting post!! keep it up!! cheers…

The giant hog is a hoax, as shown on National Georgrapic Channel. That shark is not the largest by any means, great white sharks can grow to 25 feet and weigh 2 tons (4000 pounds) while whale sharks can grow to 60 feet and weigh 35 tons…
