Code Geass takes place on Earth. The fiction, as narrated in the first episode, says the war started on August 10th, 2010 on the Britainian Calendar. (I remember that specifically because I watched the show a few weeks ago only to take notice that the date that was said was the exact day I was watching it)

However, they don't ever explain what the 'Britainian Calendar' is. It could be the same as our calendar or it could be decades into the future. It's never made clear. But one thing is certain, the entire plot of the show takes place in and around a post-war Japan.

In addition, the English version of the show doesn't have the Pizza Hut backing that the Japanese version did... so all the references to Pizza Hut in the English version have been edited out.

Someone hasn't actually watched Code Geass. The ENTIRE SERIES occurs on Earth; there isn't a single mention of space travel.
