Thank goodness for the weird, strange,unexplained,monsters, and creepy things.  Burn the liers.
Hopefully it will be centuries before we catch a monster or find  good explanations.  The mystery remains and we can go looking.  All sorts of good excuses to be up past our bed time.  Go camping.  Venture off to some new place.  Really good excuses to do something and more than we would normally do. 
 Now that I know the truth about Saquache…relatives of big feet ( they do have more than one foot),,,it would be no fun to share a secret . 
Marine monsters are more likely to sample  you  for food as to pose for a picture.  Giant lizards and snake wandering about underground are not likely to invite you in their realm and give autographs. 
Flying saucers, UFOs, flying rods…when you figure out the distance to the nearest star.,.are not likely to be visiting but are here for a purpose. Our physical sciences are but a few hundred years old and might be that of the visitors a couple thousand years old.  Parallel Universes seem likely.
Would it seem strange to discover the alien visitor might like the grass and trees more than the pesty humans.  Seems more likely that they will find it easier to use a broad band pesticide some night than make contact.  Think about it.
